Privacy policy

Prysit — plain English. Draft wording, pending legal review. Contact: 18 Piermont Road, London SE22 0LN, UK.

This page describes how Prysit currently works during its preview. It is written to be understandable rather than legally exhaustive, and it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Where something is marked [for legal review], it still needs proper wording before launch.

Photos you take or upload

When you photograph or upload an item, the photo is resized on your own device and then sent to an automated image-recognition service so Prysit can suggest what the item is. The photo is used for that purpose and to show you your own result.

Photos are held on the device you used, in that browser’s own storage, so your items are still there when you come back. They are not published anywhere and are not shown to other people.

You can remove a photo at any time by deleting the item, and clearing your browser data removes everything Prysit has kept on that device. How long the recognition service keeps a copy of an image is set by that provider, and their retention period applies. [for legal review: name the provider and its retention period]

Account information

You can use Prysit without an account. If accounts are switched on and you make one, the details you give — such as an email address — are used to sign you in and to keep your saved items together across devices. Nothing else is required.

Connecting an eBay account

Connecting eBay is optional, and today it only works with eBay’s sandbox — a test environment separate from the real eBay site.

You sign in on eBay’s own page. Prysit never asks for, sees or stores your eBay password. eBay gives Prysit a permission token instead, and that token is held only on Prysit’s server. It is never sent to your browser, never shown on screen, and never included in a web address or an error message.

The permission Prysit asks for is the smallest set eBay documents for creating and managing your own listings. It is used only to prepare a draft listing when you ask for one. Prysit does not publish listings, does not read your eBay messages or finances, and does not act on your account for any other purpose.

You can disconnect at any time from your account area. Disconnecting removes the stored permission, and you can also revoke it on eBay’s own site.

Why we handle this information

Photos and item details are handled so Prysit can do the thing you asked it to do: identify an item, estimate a value, and — if you choose — prepare a draft listing. An eBay connection is only made when you actively choose to make it.

[for legal review: confirm the lawful basis for each purpose and the consent wording]

What is not shared

Prysit does not sell your information, does not share it for advertising, and does not pass your photos or items to marketplaces, buyers or partners on its own initiative.

Information leaves Prysit only in two situations: the automated recognition service that looks at your photo, and eBay when you have connected an account and asked for a draft.

Security

Permission tokens are held server-side in an encrypted, http-only session and are not readable by code running in your browser. We describe what we do rather than promising any particular standard or certification. [for legal review: security statement and any certifications]

Deleting your data

You can delete any item at any time, disconnect eBay from your account area, and clear the site data in your browser to remove everything held on your device. The steps are set out on the delete your data page.

If you close your eBay account, eBay tells Prysit, and any permission held for you is removed. Prysit keeps no eBay profile or sales records of its own.

Last updated: preview draft.

Prysit gives estimates, not offers, and never lists or sells anything unless you ask it to.

What that means

Values come from our own price guide for that kind of item, so what something actually sells for can be higher or lower.

Prysit compares your options and helps you prepare a listing — you sell directly through the marketplace, trade buyer or local buyer you choose. Prysit doesn’t take payment, hold money, arrange delivery or sell items itself.
